Snapchat Apologizes After Posting Violent Rihanna & Chris Brown Ad

Rihanna did not take lightly to a violent Snapchat ad featuring the pop titan and her former flame Chris Brown, so she took to Instagram Story to slam the tone-deaf graphic, which asked users whether they'd prefer to slap the star or punch Breezy. Thankfully, the social media platform has come forward to apologize for the insensitive advertisement shortly after Rih's clapback.

According to BBC, Snapchat has removed the ad and issued a statement on the controversial piece of content. "The advert was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines," they said. "We immediately removed the ad last weekend, once we became aware. We are sorry that this happened." As you already know, the ad makes a not so subtle reference to the former couple's infamous 2009 assault case

Once the 30-year-old chart-topper received word of the ad, which was reportedly only published in the US, she made sure to hit back at the violent sentiment, emphasizing that her comments aren't from a personal place, but more of a statement of defense for victims of domestic violence. Additionally, shares of Snapchat fell more than 4% on Thursday after the pop star's comments.

"Now Snapchat I know you already know you ain't my fav app out there," she wrote in the text-based post. "But I'm just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess! I'd love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain't that dumb! You spent money to animate something that would bring intentional shame to DV (domestic violence) victims and made a joke of it!"

"This isn't about my personal feelings, cause I don't have much of them...but to all the women, children and men that have been victims of DV in the past and especially the ones who haven't made it out yet...you let us down!" she continued. "Shame on you. Throw the whole app-ology away." After
