'Boy Is Mine' Songwriter LaShawn Daniels Dead At 41

LaShawn Daniels has died.

According to multiple reports, the Grammy-award winning songwriter and producer passed away at the age of 41. His cause of death has yet to be confirmed. However, early reports suggest that he died in a car accident.

LaShawn was a music industry heavyweight. He worked with some of the biggest names in music across genres including George Michael, Michael Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Janet Jackson, Spice Girls, Tamar Braxton, and Alicia Keys (to name a few). Most notably he is credited with writing Brandy and Monica's "The Boy Is Mine,” Lady Gaga and Beyonce's "Telephone," Toni Braxton’s "He Wasn’t Man Enough," Destiny’s Child’s "Lose My Breath," Jennifer Lopez's "If You Had My Love," and Whitney Houston's "It’s Not Right But It’s Okay."

In 2000, LaShawn won his first Grammy for songwriting on Destiny’s Child’s smash hit "Say My Name" in 2000.

The legendary songwriter is survived by his wife of 13 years, April Daniels, and their three sons, Omarr, Tahshon and Jett.
