Victoria Monet & Usher Lead Recording Nominations For NAACP Image Awards

Victoria Monét and Usher take the lead with the most nominations in the music category of the upcoming NAACP Image Awards.

The National Association For Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) recently announced the full list of nominees for the 55th annual NAACP Image Awards. At the top of the lengthy list of nominees in the music recording categories are Victoria Monét and Usher, who received the most nominations. The "On My Mama" singer is up for six nods including Outstanding Female Artist, Outstanding Album and more. Meanwhile, Usher received five nominations including Entertainer of the Year alongside Colman Domingo, Fantasia Barrino, Halle Bailey and Keke Palmer.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of this year’s nominees, whose outstanding contributions across film, television and streaming, music, literature, podcasts, and more have inspired us all,” President and CEO of the NAACP Derrick Johnson said in a statement. “The NAACP Image Awards stand as a tribute to their creativity, talent, and dedication to authentic storytelling and are a testament to the richness and diversity of our community.”

There were plenty of other artists nominated in the music recording categories including Ari Lennox, H.E.R., Janelle Monae and Tems, who are all up for Outstanding Female Artist. Lil Durk, J. Cole, Vic Mensa, Larry June, The Alchemist, Burna Boy, 21 Savage and Megan Thee Stallion were also nominated for Outstanding Hip-Hop/Rap Song.

Fans can vote for the nominees of the 2024 NAACP Image Awards in select categories. Voting closes February 24 at 9:00 p.m. You can see the full list of nominees here. The show airs March 16, 2024, on BET and CBS. Winners that won't be televised will be recognized throughout the week leading up to the show.
