Legendary actor William Shatner was reportedly rushed to the hospital following a medical emergency Wednesday (September 25) afternoon, TMZ reports.
Shatner, 94, reportedly experienced an issue with his blood sugar at his home in Los Angeles and made the call to emergency medical service workers on his own accord. A Los Angeles Fire Department ambulance was sent to Shatner's home as a precautionary move, TMZ reports.
Shatner was reportedly evaluated at the hospital, where his condition was described as "good" as he was "resting comfortably." The 94-year-old actor has publicly acknowledging ongoing health issues in the past, which included being diagnosed and treated for stage 4 melanoma, an advanced and aggressive form of skin cancer capable of spreading throughout the body.
“It was melanoma, stage 4,” Shatner said via the New York Post. “I said, ‘Stage 4?’ And someone in the room said, ‘Sorry.’ I said, “What are you sorry about?’ It was like, ‘Better pack your things.’ That person who said ‘sorry,’ that was very sad, like you are going to die. And I was. They said if this [treatment] they used did not work, I had about 5 months.”
Shatner was able to have the lump removed and credited strict immunotherapy for making him cancer-free. The actor is best known for his role as Captain James T. Kirk in the Star Trek franchise during a career that has spanned eight decades.
Shatner also became the oldest person to reach space at the age of 90 as part of a Blue Origin mission in 2021.
