The search for answers continues today in Shreveport, Louisiana - the site of the nation's latest deadly mass shooting.
Eight children were killed on Sunday and two adults were wounded in what appears to have started as a domestic violence incident.
Gov. Jeff Landry and Louisiana Department of Health Secretary Bruce Greenstein reminded residents of available resources in the wake of the event, including Louisiana 988 and services through the Northwest Louisiana Human Services District.
The gunman, identified as 31-year-old Shamar Elkins, was the father of seven of the murdered children and the husband of one of the adult victims. He was killed by police after a brief chase.
Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux said it was possibly "the worst tragic situation" the city has ever seen.
