Hurricane Beryl is at Category 5 strength as it heads towards through the central Caribbean Sea Tuesday.
According to the 10 a.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Beryl has maximum sustained winds of 160 miles per hour.
Even with some more weakening expected, forecasters say Beryl is expected to remain an extremely dangerous major hurricane. Hurricane conditions are possible in Jamaica by Wednesday.
"Additional weakening is expected thereafter, though Beryl is forecast to remain a hurricane in the northwestern Caribbean," said the NHC.
Beryl's extended track takes it over the Yucatan Peninsula and into the southwestern Gulf of Mexico as a tropical storm, though the NHC notes there is "considerable uncertainty" in the track forecast.

Forecasters also continue to watch a tropical wave moving in Beryl's wake, though development chances have fallen.
"Environmental conditions are only marginally conducive for development of this system while it moves generally westward at 15 to 20 mph across the western tropical Atlantic and eastern Caribbean Sea," said the NHC.
